ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Philip Treleaven is Director of the UK Centre for Financial Computing and Professor of Computing at UCL.
Twenty-five years ago, Professor Philip’s research group developed much of the early financial fraud detection technology and built the first insider dealing detection system for the London Stock Exchange. For the past 20 years Prof. Treleaven’s research group has developed algorithmic trading systems with many of the leading investment banks and funds, and for the past 10 years they have worked on automating Regulation, Systemic Risk and RegTech with the Bank of England, FCA and other Regulators. Current research includes the application of machine learning and blockchain technology to decentralized finance (DeFi), ChatGPT Generative AI, and legal technology (Treleaven is credited with coining the term RegTech). He has also launched 9 start-ups.
In a parallel career, Professor Treleaven has acted a Government Advisor on Technical Innovation programmes to Japan, Singapore, Korea and Thailand. He was the Advisor to the European Commission when they established their flagship ESPRIT programme, and was Chair of the Luxembourg FinTech Panel.
